Broken tables When Party, former Australian PM to Pay Compensation


Former Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, will pay compensation for the broken marble table when the farewell party.

The statement was made after the issue mentioned by the opposition. Abbott said, "The party is my event, I take responsibility."

Marble table that costs 590 Australian dollars when purchased over twenty years ago.

Abbott was ousted from his position as Chairman of the Liberal Party last month following a drop in support for him.

The janitor found the fragments of a marble table that on September 15, one day after Abbott was overthrown. This information is disclosed in a parliamentary committee hearing.

In the committee hearing was also revealed that there is an e-mail from the parliamentary services department officials implying that the table was "probably damaged because there are people standing or dancing on it."

In a statement, Abbott said, "On the eve of a change of leadership, I organized a dinner drink to staff and peers. In that event, a table has been broken."

"I have asked ministry official parliament to send the bill to me (worth) the price of the table."

However, Cory Bernardi, a politician from the ruling Liberal Party, called for it not be overstated. He said the e-mail that imply cause damage to the table was "highly speculative".
